Protective Glazing That Lets a Window Breathe
Protective glazing is often installed tight to the frame, sealed on all four sides. It stops the stone and the vandal. It also stops air.
Condensation forms in the cavity, sits on the came, and accelerates the corrosion the glazing was installed to prevent. The fix is not complicated: vents at the head and sill let the cavity equalise with outside air, so moisture leaves as fast as it arrives.
We survey existing glazing before recommending anything. On more than one church, the most useful work of the season has been opening vents in panels installed twenty years earlier.
